EAST LAKE Optical Cases CO.

Our requirements for the cases can be summarised in three words. Ethical, sustainable, and beautiful. We visited a few factories before finding the ones who really shared our values. In the end, we selected the one who embodied these words.

How We Met

When we decided to produce our custom made cases, we knew we had to work with the same factories used by top brands. But finding these factories isn't easy. In life, you need a little bit of luck. After long weeks of factory visits, we decided to take the afternoon off and explore some trendy neighbourhoods in Danyang. We met Serena (named after the Gossip Girl character) on our way to have a coffee. She was introduced to us by a friend we made a few days earlier during one of our factory visits.

Funny fact: It's not uncommon for people from the Chinese-speaking world to have two different names - a Chinese and a self-given Western one. Admittedly, some Chinese names are really difficult to pronounce for foreigners!

The Factory

The premises are very clean and tidy. They built a reputation from the handmade cases they produce for several luxury brands. The atmosphere at the factory is relaxed and the employees seem happy to work here. Most of them are fashion conscious young women and men in their thirties. They directly understood our high quality requirements and are experts in vegan leather manufacturing. Unrivalled range of colours and extensive quality control process ended up convincing us they fitted our standards perfectly.

The Story

The factory was founded around ten years ago. The idea was simple. Offer high quality manufacturing for cases in the Jiangsu Province. The goal was to benefit from the international customers already coming to the region thanks to the highly technical optical lenses manufactured there. A little less than ten years later, they are one of the main players in the business. Behind the success story is the management passion and commitment to their staff's well-being.
